Ideas for a new vaporizer.
I have recently started to try all the different style of vaporizers (and take them apart).I really like the idea of vaping but I haven't been satisfied with any of them and have found the claims of "quality" are rarely more than brand name hype.I'm working on making and selling a high quality vaporizer (with a good warranty) at a better price(than other quality vaporizers).I'm looking for input on what you would like to see in a vaporizer that isn't available.
This what I'm planning at the moment. 1)The appearance is already set. 2)It will be a bowl and stem type like the PD and others of that style but with ground glass on glass fittings like the whip style vapes.with a slightly larger bowl than others of the PD type but smaller than the standard whip. 3)It'll be held when used, rather than from a stationary base(I may include or offer a wooden base) 4)I've never liked the female bowls that go over the male heat source, if you look at them after vaping you'll often see a green ring around the brown well vaporized product, that tells me that not all the product is getting vaped with out stiring frequently and that there is product being vaporized at different temperatures,I don't want either. So the smaller male end (probably a 14/20 fitting)will be the bowl/receptacle.that should make heat disperse more evenly. 5)glass air channel, ceramic heating element, adjustable heat,no plastics(other than wire coating.),not very stealthy. __________________________________________________ _______________ quality at low cost is one of my main concerns, but I have two paths I need to decide on.I can either make a bare bones but quality vaporizer and sell it for less than almost any of the other electric vaporizers out there,or I can make a top quality version that comes as a bare bones no frills but high quality unit with modular upgrades. So you could buy the base unit and then a month latter add a blower and bag,or a digital temp control, bubbler, bong attachments or what ever. Any suggestions, advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Last edited by Glugglug; Oct-27-2009 at 10:31. |

I'm far enough along that I have a good Idea what my cost will be.I was surprised that vaporizers (quality) are not as overpriced as I thought they were when I started. There are at least 12 headshops just on a 25mile strech of the hwy I live near and I have a good relationship with a couple of them,so I have a pretty good test market .I'm positive I can get my product on multiple store shelves after that I'll just have to see if there is a market for lower priced vaporizors with very simple natural ascetics.I'm not sure how it'll do here there isn't a huge vaping crowd in the area ,but its a low overhead project for me,I have the time and I'm willing to sell it,so the worst case senario is my friends end up with new vaporizors, best case I'll make a small profit and turn more people in my area on to vaping.Allot of people never try vaping because of the cost of getting a quality unit just to see if you like it.I'm hoping a good low priced entery level vaporizer will get more people to try it.

the design of the volcano is simple. a ceramic element heats up, a fan blows air past the element, then the valve system is the though part, but you could just make it a whip at first. Then the control mechanism is a potentiometer attached to the power for the element. and thats basically it. think a hot glue gun, with a fan and a screen/storage for the greenery. very basic. the toughest part will be getting the correct settings and parts to make the heat stay even.

just took my first rough copy to show my friend..she wants 5 on consignment (fine with me) I ordered the parts and found all the parts for 1/3 the cost that I thought I'd have to pay..the look I went with was bamboo.I still need to find a glass or ceramic spacer to keep the heat element centered and stable, other than that everything is looking good.

Vaporizers heat plant material enough that it releases most of its active ingredients with out setting it on fire,so you get the effect your looking for without allot of the unhealthy effects that you get from combustion.Vaporizer wiki will explain more, then just goggle vaporizers or click one of the links from this site and look at whats avalible.
